Three of our staff were nominated and WON the Friends Of Children 2011 Awards at the Early Childhood Recognition Awards Dinner held June 7, 2011 at Harts Hill Inn.The Friends of Children Awards are sponsored by Cornell University Cooperative Extension through Child Care Council.
Melissa Engelhart – “Melissa takes music to a whole new level as teacher of the Rhyme Time Program at the Neighborhood Center. She brings joy and enthusiasm into the classrooms and is also responsible for coordinating all of the family events. “You can hear music and children singing even outside the building which creates such a positive and uplifting environment” writes the nominator.”
Erica Rivera – “Erica is a Floater Teacher at the Neighborhood Center who not only makes a difference in the lives of the children there but also helps her fellow co-workers realize the importance of making children feel accepted and safe. Her dedication and hard work is appreciated everyday!”
Shaniece Toner – A three time nominee, one of her nominators wrote “Shaniece loves her job and is involved in every aspect of the children’s lives she works with”. She takes pride in her work, is involved in the community and can be found working at charitable events. She does not care where children come from or who they are, she loves them all with the same kindness. Shaniece was nominated not only by a parent and a co-worker but also by a special co-worker who happens to be her Mom!”
