A Full – Time position with an excellent benefits package is available working in our childcare program:
  • $16.50/hr.
  • 40 – hour work week
  • M – F, 7:45 am – 4:45 pm (with some flexibility required)

JOB DESCRIPTION: Under the direction of the Child Care Site Director, the child care teacher is responsible for planning and implementing a program for social, emotional, cognitive and physical development of children 18 months to 3 years of age. A Child Care Teacher is responsible for the daily provision of activities and routine for a group of children in the child care program. In addition, they will lead the child care room staff in providing daily age appropriate activities and overseeing the safety and overall quality of the classroom environment.
SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Responsible for the preparation, implementation and evaluation of classroom activities and curriculum as a whole as well as specific activities.
  • Assumes direct leadership in carrying out classroom activities including those that are consistently of a very active nature.
  • Cares for children’s physical needs, which may involve the regular lifting and carrying of young children.
  • Maintain an environment that is safe, healthy, orderly and appealing.
  • Alerts site director to children with special needs, to problems, incidents and emergencies to ensure appropriate intervention is taken.
  • Develops and maintains a cooperative working relationship with child care parents and guardians, conducts at least two (2) parent /teacher conferences per year.
  • Assists in planning and implementing educational and recreational family activities that meet varying client needs.
  • Responsible for the upkeep of current records of children’s development, including growth charts, developmental records, anecdotal records, medication logs and reports.
  • Apprise site supervisor of the need for supplies, materials, equipment and repairs.
  • Assists in the supervision and evaluation of teacher assistants, interns and volunteers as assigned.
  • Fulfills all training requirements of funding, licensing and regulatory offices.
  • Participates effectively in supervisory conferences and staff meetings.
  • Assist with other related responsibilities as assigned.
  • Maintains a professional manner at all times and adheres to The Neighborhood Center policy, procedures and Agency Mission Statement.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience working with infants or toddlers in a child care setting.
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with clients.
  • Ability to prepare accurate and timely reports and records.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS (One of the following):
  • Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood, Child Development or related field and one (1) year experience related to caring for infants and toddlers
  • Infant and Toddler Child Care and Education credential; or Infant Toddler Child Development Associate Credential; or other OCFS office-recognized credential specific to the infant/toddler developmental period AND two (2) years of experience related to caring for children
  • Child Development Associate Credential AND two (2) years of experience caring for children, one (1) of which must be related to caring for infants or toddlers
  • Two (2) years of experience caring for children, one (1) of which must be related to caring for infants or toddlers AND Nine (9) college credits in Early Childhood, Child Development or a related field, with a plan of study leading to:
  • *Infant and Toddler Child Care and Education Credential; or
  • *Infant Toddler Child Development Associate credential; or
  • *Other OCFS Office-recognized credential specific to the infant/toddler development period
