Standard work schedule of 37.5 hour work week, M-F, would include one evening per week from 12 Noon until 8:00 PM with flexibility as needed.

JOB DESCRIPTION: The Registered Nurse (RN), is a member of the clinical team at The Neighborhood Center Behavioral Health Clinics. The RN performs tasks and responsibilities including medication administration and monitoring, health teaching, health counseling, and provision of supportive and restorative care to individuals with behavioral health and/or substance use disorders under the direction of the Medical Director, Nurse Practitioner, or other licensed health care provider legally authorized under this title.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITES INCLUDE:

● Works in an independent and interdependent relationship with members of the clinic staff which allows for consultation, collaboration, or referral.

● Educates patients and/or families about preventive care, medical issues, and use of prescribed treatments and/or medications. Includes but is not limited to individual or group diabetes education, smoking cessation education, and substance abuse education

● Administration of medications as assigned, including Injectable Psychotropic Medication.

● Providing Health Monitoring to clients, which is the continued measuring of specific health indicators associated with increased risk of medical illness and early death (blood pressure, body mass index (BMI), substance use, activity/exercise level, and smoking status.

● Assisting Psychiatrists and Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners in establishing and reviewing Clinical Psychopharmacology Treatment Plans for Medication Treatment Only clients.

● Completion of required training and subsequent provision of “Screening, Brief Intervention and Referral to Treatment” (SBIRT). SBIRT is an evidence-based intervention designed to modify the consumption/use patterns of at-risk substance users, and identify individuals who need more extensive, specialized treatment.

● Completion of required training as a “Trained Overdose Responder (TOR)” as well as an “Approved Overdose Trainer (AOT)” as part of the Clinic “Overdose Prevention Program”. The RN will be designated to provide opioid overdose training to staff, clients, and the community, and to selectively furnish naloxone.

● Discusses cases with physician and other clinical professionals to prepare comprehensive patient behavioral healthcare plans.

● Facilitates evaluation of records by physician(s), peers, and quality and standards according to protocols, and receives and implements constructive directives.

● Maintains self in a professional manner at all times and adheres to the policies and procedures of the agency.

● Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

● Must possess a current New York State RN license.

● Knowledge and experience in behavioral healthcare and/or SUD treatment procedures preferred

● Experience in health counseling/advising

● Experience and proven skill in positive interpersonal and human relations

● Experience in decision-making and problem solving skills
