TEACHER ASSISTANT: Unified Court System Children’s Center
TEACHER ASSISTANT at the Children’s Center at Family Court in Rome, NY and Utica, NY. Part-time with excellent benefits. Travel required between sites- primary worksite is in Rome, NY. Basic work schedule is 31 hours per week, some additional hours may be required. Driver’s License and transportation required.
~The Unified Court System requires proof that you are fully vaccinated against COVID. This requires that you have received a primary series of COVID vaccines along with a booster to work in the Children’s Center.

• Monday-Thursday: 8:30am-4:00pm
• Friday: 8:30am-2:30pm
JOB DESCRIPTION: The Children’s Center Teacher Assistant is responsible to assist the Children’s Center Site Director in the planning and implementation of a program for social, emotional, cognitive and physical development of children 6 weeks to 12 years of age. The Children’s Center Teacher Assistant is responsible for assisting in the daily provision of activities and establishing a healthy routine for a group of children in the Children’s Center program. He or she assists in providing age appropriate daily activities and a positive framework for a safe and enriching classroom environment.
SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Assists the Children’s Center Site Director with preparation, implementation and evaluation of the classroom activities and curriculum as a whole as well as specific activities
• Cares for children’s physical needs, which may involve lifting and carrying very young children
• Assists in maintaining an environment that is safe, healthy, orderly, appealing, respectful and private
• Shares with the Children’s Center Site Director observations and insights relating to specific children in the group
• Alerts the Children’s Center Site Director to children with special needs, to problems, incidents and emergencies to ensure appropriate intervention is taken
• Develops and maintains a cooperative working relationship with parents and guardians
• Reports to the Children’s Center Site Director the need for supplies, materials, equipment and repairs.
• Participates effectively in supervisory conferences
• Assists with other related responsibilities as assigned
• Maintains self in professional manner at all times and adheres to The Neighborhood Center policy, procedures and Agency Mission Statement
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• A High School Diploma or equivalent
OR
• Substantial experience in childcare, early childhood or related programs. EOE
