Building a Future

On April 24th, 2015, the community gathered to celebrate the completion of Phase 1 of the Dr. Marie A. Russo Neighborhood Center Campus located at 624 Elizabeth Street and the ribbon cutting for the Mario and Albertina Manella Memorial Child Care Playground at our 615 Mary Street location. The Phase 1 completion has transformed the former Delorio's Bakery in East Utica into the new headquarters for The Neighborhood Center, Inc.'s administrative offices. Welcoming dignitaries including Mayor Robert Palmieri and County Executive Anthony Picente, program alumni-including former Congressman Mike Arcuri, neighbors, supporters and business, civic and community leaders, Executive Director Sandra Soroka said that "this project started three years ago with the amazing donation of the building from the Delorio family." Among those acknowledged included Jimmy Salerno from Poncell Construction and Chuck Tomaselli from CLT Architects "for hearing our vision and creating this inspiring new headquarters. While we have a long way to go, we are celebrating the completion of Phase 1 today to show the community that if you invest in us with philanthropic support, The Neighborhood Center promises to continue building a stronger community for the next 110 years and beyond."
