JOB DESCRIPTION: The Mobile Crisis Assessment Team (MCAT) 4-County Regional Coordinator is responsible for ensuring crisis services are provided consistent with “best practices” as well as with the local and State Office of Mental Health and Department of Health guidelines/regulations and contracts. She/he/they plans, organizes and manages the overall delivery of the 4-County Mobile Crisis Assessment Team, and has immediate supervisory responsibility for the activities of the 4-County Crisis Services Program within Chenango, Delaware, Otsego and Schoharie counties. She/he/they is expected to work in complex situations with a high degree of independence. She/he/they is required to complete crisis assessments and make necessary referrals for needed services for children and adults who are identified as being in possible acute psychiatric distress. She/he/they is responsible for coordinating a team of Crisis Counselors and other staff as assigned and responding to community crisis situations to assist with de-briefing and necessary crisis assessments.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Participates in the staff selection process and provides day-to-day program leadership, staff orientation and training, staff supervision, conducts staff performance appraisals and professional development opportunities for the 4-County MCAT staff team in accordance with agency policies and procedures.
- Travels regularly to Chenango, Delaware, Otsego, and Schoharie counties and other counties as may be assigned, for the purposes of program management, networking, supervision and maintenance of vital community relationships.
- Ensures the timely delivery of short-term crisis intervention, follow-up and linkage to community resources and supports.
- Ensures the 4-County program provides quality assessment services for children and adults including comprehensive crisis assessment and suicide/homicide lethality.
- Ensures accurate documentation of client and agency contacts in accordance with program policy and ensures that procedure manuals are maintained.
- Assists in clinical and administrative review of cases for quality assurance.
- Ensures systems are in place to provide effective outcome monitoring and continuous quality improvement in all program functions.
- Assumes on-call, and administrative back-up responsibilities consistent with program needs.
- Ensures program compliance and enforces standards which include but are not limited to: HIPAA regulations and confidentiality in accordance with the New York State Office of Mental Health and applicable Department of Health regulations in addition to all other local, state and federal governing laws and regulations.
- Ensures timely completion of required internal and external reports and that the program is in compliance with agency, the Office of Mental Health and other applicable regulatory mandates.
- Convenes staff meetings to discuss service delivery, policies and procedures and to obtain input in goal setting for program operation.
- Conducts regular supervision with direct reports/team members as assigned by agency supervisor/administrators.
- Provides education and training for team members and facilitates the orientation process for staff in the 4-County Region
- Engages in agency/program projects or work groups as assigned by the MCAT Program
- Provides educational/ marketing /training presentations to the community, as assigned by the Program Director.
- Maintains a valid NY State driver’s license and has viable transportation.
- Secures and maintains all necessary certification and professional licensing as dictated by the profession and required qualifications.
- Maintains self in a professional manner at all times and adheres to the policies and procedures of the Agency.
- Punctual and regular attendance is an essential responsibility of each employee. Employees are expected to report to work as scheduled, on time and prepared to start working.
ReQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Possesses demonstrated strong experience and knowledge of program design and development, strategic planning, and change management.
- Possesses demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills including the ability to develop and deliver presentations to a wide variety of audiences as well as the demonstrated ability to communicate and interact with various levels of government, community leaders and providers.
- Possesses strong organizational and assessment skills with the ability to be flexible and work independently.
- A Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) licensed by the New York State Education Department and three (3) years of experience in the provision of mental health services and one (1) year staff supervisory experience required.
OR
- A Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) licensed by the New York State Education Department and two (2) years of experience in the provision of mental health services and one (1) year staff supervisory experience required.
