Creo's Bikes for Tykes

Meet Bill Gately, an inspiring alumni success story who's always been a generous supporter of our agency. After a recent tour of our programs, Bill felt compelled to do more. Reflecting on his own journey, he remembered the pivotal role a simple gift played in his childhood – a bike from his father's friend, Pasquele "John" Creo. This bike wasn't just a mode of transportation for Bill; it was a ticket to exploration, friendship, and vital community connections, including visits to The Neighborhood Center. Now, Bill and The Gately Family have decided to pay on this generosity for this generation by creating Creo's Bikes for Tykes. Let's come together to support others like Bill and make a difference in their lives!

Creo's Bikes for Tykes Program recognizes the transformative power of bicycles in the lives of at-risk youth, offering them opportunities for growth, empowerment, and connection. Your generous donation will provide a bike for at-risk youth in our community. More than just a mode of transportation, these bikes serve as a source of joy, freedom, and positive engagement for the young participants.

In 2024, we were able to distribute over 130 bikes to local children.

Applying for a Bicycle

A child may be eligible for a bicycle if they are between the ages 5 to 18, who don't already have a bike, and who live within Utica, NY and are eligible for Medicaid, SNAP, SSI, SSD or other cash assistance, or have other demonstrated need or special circumstances. Prior recipients of bicycles are ineligible for our 2025 drive. Proof of income is required.  Parents/guardians must apply for the bicycle.  An individual application must be created for each child.

These bikes will not be delivered; you must have transportation.  Priority will be given to children that participate in programs at The Neighborhood Center.
