SOCIAL WORKER / COUNSELOR: Rome Clinic & Camden School District

Full time position available with an excellent benefits package for Provide therapeutic counseling in our behavioral health clinics in Camden and Rome, NY.

Standard work schedule of 37.5 hour work week, M-F, would include one evening per week from 12 Noon until 8:00 PM with flexibility as needed.

The Neighborhood Center’s human service roots date back to 1905, when it began as a settlement house assisting immigrants. Today, the agency provides a full range of outreach, preventative, developmental and therapeutic human services for over 20,000 individuals in the local and surrounding communities.

Neighborhood Center, Inc. Behavioral Healthcare clinicians may be eligible for the federal Public Service Loan Forgiveness program and LCSW/LMHC/LMFT’s for the NHSC Loan Repayment Program (NHSC LRP), which awards up to $50,000 in exchange for a two-year commitment to provide primary mental/behavioral health care at our approved sites in high-need, under served areas.

We are looking for reliable and hardworking Social Workers and Mental Health Counselors to work within a cohesive and supportive multidisciplinary team dedicated to the mission of providing quality behavioral health services to under served populations in Oneida and Herkimer Counties in New York State. Treatment approach focuses on trauma-informed, person-centered, strengths based recovery. Provide individual, family and/or group therapy to an assigned caseload of children, families and/or adults with a wide variety of mental health issues in an outpatient clinic setting. Community based treatment options may also be available for those interested.

The Neighborhood Center recognizes that providing community mental health care is more difficult and complex than ever. Several levels of the clinic management team are licensed clinicians and understand the importance of providing a high degree of support. We seek to value staff by offering continuing education opportunities, schedule flexibility, scheduled paperwork time, and self care opportunities for high performers. Clinicians have continuous access to program management and excellent administrative and clinical support in regards to credentialing, caseload management, scheduling, and billing. Clinicians have direct access to crisis support and Care Management for high needs cases.

Formal Clinical Supervision is provided as well as informal peer/group supervision with a dynamic team that has a wide variety of backgrounds. Supervision is focused on supporting the well-being and development of the therapist as well as ensuring the best care of their clients. Opportunities to assist in providing clinical supervision to interns and/or peers may be available depending upon credential.

The organization’s focus on enhancing Evidence Based Practices has led to training opportunities in advanced clinical interventions for therapists that are not commonly available in community mental health settings including EMDR, DBT, and PCIT.

JOB DESCRIPTION: A Social Worker / Mental Health Counselor is expected to work with an assigned caseload of children, families and/or adults. In addition to clinical and therapeutic duties, he/she may be asked to perform some supervision and management functions. He/she functions with independence and competence to provide services for clients. He/she conducts individual, family and group therapy as well as crisis intervention to assist clients in establishing basic emotional support and encouragement leading to constructive living patterns.

Responsibilities include but aren’t limited to:

· Provides direct therapeutic services to clients and their families according to need.

· Conducts strength based assessments to identify client/family needs.

· Provides follow-up before, during and after services in order to be responsive to the needs of client/families as they surface and to help determine satisfaction with services and obtain recommendations for service enhancement.

· Functions as an interdisciplinary team member at all conferences designed to diagnose and treat clients.

· Maintains contact and consults with community agencies as the clients’ mental health advocate and as a mental health professional for the treatment team.

· Provides outreach to engage treatment resistant high-risk families and/or adults.

· Provides input for clinical planning within the clinic.

· Assists in linking clients to outside agencies and community resources as indicated and appropriate.

· Maintains timely, complete and accurate record documentation.

· Attends and participates in staff/agency meetings.

· Accepts emergency cases and/or the assignment of other clients by supervisory staff.

· Maintains self in a professional manner at all times, adhering to OMH guidelines, Neighborhood Center policy and procedures and in keeping with the Agency’s mission statement, as well as NASW Code of Ethics.

· Performs other duties as requested by Agency Administration.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

· Extensive knowledge of mental health issues affecting children, adolescents and their families and adults.

· Experience in providing individual, family and group therapies to severely emotionally disturbed children and their families and adults.

· Ability to maintain expectations for timeliness and accuracy in the performance of the job functions.

· Ability to function as an interdisciplinary team member.

· Some flexibility in work schedule needed with possibility of providing services at school sites.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

· Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW) with eligibility for NYS License required and must obtain License (LMSW) within six (6) months of employment

OR

· Master’s in Mental Health CounselingMarriage and Family Therapy or Creative Arts Therapy and actively working toward obtaining a NYS License: LMHC, LMFT, or LCAT required.
