New Neighborhood Center Facilities to be Dedicated

The Neighborhood Center, Inc. will celebrate the completion of Phase Four of a multiphase project of the Dr. Marie A. Russo Neighborhood Center Campus with a ribbon cutting and ice cream social noon, Wednesday, June 27 at its facilities at 16 Mary Street.

The new play space will include a new and improved basketball court and four-square area, improved space for running and team games, a water feature for hot summer days and an amphitheater for creative play.

“This space will allow children to run, jump, climb, learn good sportsmanship and cooperation, and learn the importance of sharing,” said Sandy Soroka, Executive Director of the Neighborhood Center  “These life lessons are important as we all strive to build a stronger community.”

The Hartz Family Playspace is named In honor of four generations of the Hartz family who, for more than seven decades, have shown their appreciation for the love and support they experienced at the Center.  They continue a legacy of giving back with support and contributions to ensure The Neighborhood Center’s programs and mission continues to provide for today and future generations to come.

The Gornick Amphitheater is named in appreciation to Jeffrey and Cathy Gornick for their ongoing generosity, support and commitment to helping ensure The Neighborhood Center’s mission and programs are available to all who seek services.
