Pay: $131,000.00 annual salary for full-time. Also a $5,000.00 sign on bonus

$95.00 an hour for part-time up to 19 hours per week

Position:Nurse Practitioner in Psychiatry

Division: Behavioral Health Care

Status: Full Time with Benefits and Part time positions up to 19 hours per week.

Location: Herkimer, NY

Base Schedule:  Full time – 3 days a week. Rotating schedule with weekends and holidays. Part Time Per diem up to 19 hours per week.

JOB DESCRIPTION: The Intensive Crisis Stabilization Center (ICSC) Nurse Practitioner in Psychiatry (NPP) is a member of the clinical team and provides general medical care and treatment to clients in the Intensive Crisis Stabilization center, under direction of the ICSC’s
Medical Director and Program Director.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Identifies, evaluates, and addresses mental health and general health issues of the population in the ICSC setting while administering quality client care.
  • Works in an independent and interdependent relationship with members of the clinic staff which allows for consultation, collaboration, or referral.
  • Conduct comprehensive Psychiatric and SUD evaluations for the purposes of providing clinical treatment, treatment recommendations, and consultations.
  •  Coordinates with clients and families about preventive care, medications, and treatmentplans according to client’s diagnoses.
  • Performs physical examinations and preventive health measures within regulatory guidelines.
  • Records physical findings and formulates plan and diagnosis based on client’s condition as per regulatory bodies.
  • Discusses cases with the Medical Director and other clinical professionals to prepare a comprehensive client treatment plan.
  • Submits health care plans and goals of individual clients for periodic review and evaluation by physician and agency/regulatory guidelines.
  • Prescribes or recommends drugs in the treatment of behavioral healthcare diagnoses and substance abuse disorders.
  • Facilitates evaluation of records by physician(s), peers, and quality and standards according to protocols, and receives and implements constructive directives.
  • Provide medication management to children, adolescents and adults with the full range of DSM diagnoses (including co-occurring disorders).
  • Ensure the health and safety of staff and clients during emergencies.
  • Health monitoring (including vital signs).
  • Assess situations to determine importance, urgency and risks, and make clear decisions which are timely and in the best interests of the client and organization.
  • Administration of intramuscular injections.
  • Orders laboratory and other diagnostic tests and evaluates data obtained.
  • Completion of all clinical documentation in an electronic medical record in accordance with all regulatory bodies.
  • Attendance at routine supervision/team meeting.
  • Completion of training and ongoing maintenance of de-escalation and crisis intervention skills.
  • Maintains self in a professional manner at all times and adheres to the policies and procedures of the agency.
  • Punctuality and regular attendance are essential responsibilities of each employee. Employees must report to work as scheduled, on time, and prepared to begin their workday.
  • Performs additional tasks as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • New York State Licensed Nurse Practitioner in Psychiatry (NPP) with prescriptive privileges and at least one (1) year of experience in nursing with the NPP credential.Knowledge and experience in behavioral health and substance use disorders.
  • Knowledge and experience in behavioral health and substance use disorders.
    ● Experience in medical counseling/advising
    ● Waivered to prescribe Medication Assisted Treatment
    ● Experience in decision-making and problem solving skills
