Culture & Belonging

Culture

At The Neighborhood Center, we are committed to creating a culture where people feel seen, respected, and supported--so both our staff and community can thrive. Since our founding as the Italian Settlement House in 1905, we have been committed to fostering an environment where everyone—regardless of race, ethnicity, gender identity, socioeconomic status, age, religion, or ability—is valued, respected, and supported. Today, we continue that legacy by striving to eliminate social and racial inequities and build a community where all voices are heard, and all individuals have the opportunity to succeed.

Ongoing Learning and Growth

We recognize that achieving true equity and inclusion is an ongoing journey, and we are committed to continually learning, growing, and improving. Through regular staff training on anti-racism, cultural competency, and bias awareness, we work to ensure that every member of our organization is equipped to contribute to a more equitable community.

We also welcome feedback from our community as we strive to create an inclusive environment that reflects the needs and values of those we serve. We are dedicated to listening, learning, and taking meaningful action to foster a future where everyone can thrive.

Creating a stronger, more resilient community is at the heart of our mission. We invite you to join us in this important work—whether as a volunteer, donor, partner, or community member. Together, we can build a brighter future for all.
