Base Schedule: 7:00am-7:30pm/ 7:00pm-7:30am – 3 day work week with some weekends required.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
An Intensive Crisis Stabilization Center (ICSC) Registered Nurse (RN) provides professional nursing services in a 24 hour per day, 7 days per week, outpatient acute care crisis stabilization program. The RN will provide intensive assessment, linkage and follow-up of individuals identified to be in acute psychiatric or substance use crises. She/he/they is responsible for referring clients to appropriate agencies for needed services and for assessing and intervening with individuals in crisis. She/he/they will assist with triaging medical needs for children and adults in crisis and will facilitate engagements with a prescriber to administer medications and medical interventions. S//they are expected to perform job functions with a degree of independence, and are expected to assist in the management of day-to-day service operation as assigned.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Provide nursing intervention including supportive and/or restorative care.
- Function as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
- Act as a team lead and be responsible for maintaining any inventory standards for medication and medical supplies.
- Ensure the health and safety of staff and clients during emergencies.
- Health monitoring and education/counseling.
- Conducts laboratory and other diagnostic tests and evaluates data.
- Administration and monitoring of oral medications and intramuscular injections.
- Maintain infection control standards.
- Establish and maintain positive working relationships with others both internally and externally to achieve goals of the organization.
- Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Foster teamwork, work cooperatively and effectively with others to set goals, resolve problems and make decisions with an interdisciplinary team.
- Assess situations to determine importance, urgency and risks, and make clear decisions which are timely and in the best interests of the organization.
- Set priorities, develop a work schedule, and monitor progress towards goals, and track details, data, information and activities.
- Complete accurate and detailed clinical documentation in the Electronic Medical Records system in accordance with all regulatory bodies.
- Makes recommendations and assists in facilitating the appropriate level of treatment/services/supports.
- Assumes on-call, and administrative back-up responsibilities consistent with program needs.
- Attends and actively participates in all required training, staff meetings, supervisions and case conferences as required by agency administration.
- Maintains self in a professional manner at all times, adhering to The Neighborhood Center, Inc.’s policy and procedures and in keeping with the Agency’s mission statement;
- Secures and maintains all necessary certification and professional licensing as dictated by profession and required qualifications.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- A New York State Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) with one (2) years of experience in the provision of mental health or substance use services
AND
- At least one (1) year experience in an acute care, psychiatric setting, including experience with co-occurring disorders and/or chemical dependency.
AND
- Physical Requirements – Ability to perform general nursing duties including bending, stretching and standing for long periods.
AND
- Experience working well as a team member.
- Ability to work collaboratively with individuals and agencies within the community.
