The Neighborhood Center’s Behavioral Health Clinic Receives Federal SAMHSA Award

Utica, NY— The Neighborhood Center, Inc., was awarded a federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) grant to implement a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC).  A CCBHC is a system change in the delivery of behavioral health services, transitioning to a comprehensive model of care, allowing clients to receive all mental health, substance use treatment, and health care services from one location. While The Neighborhood Center offers many services provided by a CCBHC, the new philosophy will bring all services under one umbrella to ensure continuity of care.

The CCBHC will offer family peer services, a non-intrusive, friendly resource for people receiving services. It will also focus on expanding outreach and services to the large refugee population in the Mohawk Valley and Veterans and their families. This grant will support the goals of the behavioral health clinics at The Neighborhood Center Inc. by allowing the clinics to expand access to care, investing in the workforce, expanding access to Medicated-Assisted Therapy (MAT), increasing coordination and integration with primary care, making crisis services available to everyone, meeting children and families where they are at, improving collaboration with criminal justice agencies, and addressing health disparities.

The Neighborhood Center Inc.’s Behavioral Health Clinics provide mental health services through individual, family, and group mental health counseling.  Additionally, the CCBHC will collaborate with multiple community partners to provide inclusive and holistic care to all individuals and families served.

The Neighborhood Center is a comprehensive Human Services Agency in Central New York. All Services are based on a philosophy of empowerment – Helping people to help themselves. Our mission is to enrich the lives of individuals and families through cooperative opportunities, resources, and advocacy which embrace diversity, promote empowerment, and foster responsible citizenship.
