Adult Recovery Services (ARS)

Adult Recovery Services (ARS)

Adult Recovery Services (ARS) is a voluntary program for any adult 18 and above with an Axis 1 Mental Health Diagnosis. ARS provides a safe and positive environment where our members can socialize, obtain advice and support, develop job skills, and attend a wide variety of groups offered daily.

At ARS it is our mission to work with all members on embracing our journey in recovery together. This is accomplished by the nature of the club, in which staff and members work hand in hand together in running the day to day activities at ARS. Members have disclosed that this setup has helped to improve their self-confidence, social and vocational skills, and most importantly has assisted them in living meaningful and independent lives in the community. ARS prides itself on being a non-judgmental atmosphere where our members can measure their progress daily.

Volunteer Opportunities

We have 4 areas we offer volunteer opportunities in. Clerical, Maintenance, Food Service, and Education.

Clerical - office work help to include filing, collating, answering phones, and making outreach calls. This area will need to complete HIPPA training regarding confidentiality when jobs include a member's personal information.

Maintenance - work to include, sweeping, mopping, kitchen cleanup, deicing/shoveling outside as needed, and working with our daily maintenance worker to help keep the club clean and safe.

Food Service - this included two areas of the club, the bar, and kitchen. Serving coffee and stocking, answering the door, and learning customer relations are involved when working the bar. In the kitchen, you can cook, clean, help stock and rotate food in refrigerator, freezers, and pantry. There are also opportunities to menu plan, organize baking projects and assist with fundraisers. In both areas, you will learn proper food care, hygiene, and serving skills.

Education - this area is for members who would like to become facilitators for groups in the club. Opportunities exist to help find and design curriculum, co-facilitate with another member or staff and eventually be able to research a topic and facilitate a group alone. This area provides opportunities to do research, be organized, learn to lead a group discussion, enhance interpersonal skills, and learn member interests and needs.
